My first marathon for a great cause!

After cheering on friends in last year's Chicago marathon I caught the bug and couldn't wait to sign up! Have not been this into running since the days of cross country in high school, and though I wouldn't say I've enjoyed every mile of training (it's been a hot summer in Chicago...) stepping back into running was one of the best decisions I've made. Signing up also led me to discover Special Children's Charities, a cause I could not be happier to raise money for given my near decade of experience with Best Buddies, a similarly oriented organization. Your dollars are going toward providing experiences for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout Chicago, so thank you in advance for making our city more inclusive for everyone. See you on race day!

Why I'm running for #TeamSCC

Since 1969, Special Children’s Charities has been the driving force behind inclusion and empowerment for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout Chicago. 

Special Children’s Charities aims to transcend boundaries and redefine possibilities by serving as a symbol of empowerment and inclusivity within both the disability community and the City of Chicago.

The spirit of accomplishment, inclusion, and joy that are part of the marathon experience are what we strive to provide for thousands of our participants in all 77 Chicago neighborhoods. With your help, we are creating a more inclusive Chicago–one mile at a time.
