When I was a kid, I spent nearly a year in a wheelchair after two serious accidents. I had to relearn how to walk, and I did. Step by step, I found my way back to movement through martial arts, eventually earning my second-degree black belt. I didn’t stop there. I taught self-defense to adults with special needs, and I started running because everyone deserves a chance to move, to belong, and to thrive. Today, I run for the same reason I once fought to stand: to make sure every person, regardless of ability, has the opportunity to play, to compete, and to shine. That’s why I’m fundraising for Special Olympics Chicago, an organization that transforms lives through sport, inclusion, and community. As a proud Down Syndrome Ambassador, I also advocate for policies that open doors and tear down barriers.
