Why I'm running for #TeamSCC

This year, I’ve taken on the challenge of running the Chicago Marathon—and I’m not doing it just for the experience (although that’s cool too). I’m running for something bigger: to grow personally, to push past perceived limits, and to raise $2,100 for a cause that deeply matters—Special Children’s Charities (SCC).

Why SCC?

Since 1969, Special Children’s Charities has championed inclusion and joy for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Through sports, arts, and recreation, SCC helps thousands of people experience the same sense of pride, purpose, and celebration we feel when accomplishing a goal—whether it’s finishing a piano recital, scoring a goal, or crossing the marathon finish line.

Their mission?

To create a more inclusive Chicago—one mile, one smile, one opportunity at a time.
(And Lord knows—in today’s world, we need more champions like that.)

Why Am I Running?

Yes, 26.2 miles is long—and this will be my second marathon. There will be sweat, blisters, chafing, and probably a few inner monologues asking, "What am I doing?"

But for me, this race is about becoming the best version of myself—physically, mentally, and spiritually—and doing it with purpose.

Running for SCC gives every training mile deeper meaning. It pushes me to be better by and for other people.

How Can You Help?

I’m aiming to raise $2,100 to support SCC’s incredible work. Every donation—big or small—helps bring more joy, more access, and more inclusion to the lives of kids with disabilities across Chicago.

Thank you for being part of this journey with me. Your support means the world—not just to me, but to the amazing children and families SCC serves.

Let’s go the distance together.
