Why I'm running for #TeamSCC

When I was a young child, my grandfather was the Executive Director of an organization that provided support and services to children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Although I was too young to be able to help my grandpa at the facility when he worked there, I am grateful for the opportunity to honor him now by raising money for Special Children's Charities. I'm also very excited to be running this marathon with another person in my family who is doing amazing work to help others. My daughter Kimberly, a Resident Physician at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and I will be supporting and motivating each other as we tackle our first full marathon! Please consider donating to this amazing organization. My goal is to raise $100 for each mile of the marathon.

About Special Children's Charities

Since 1969, Special Children’s Charities has been the driving force behind inclusion and empowerment for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout Chicago. 

Special Children’s Charities aims to transcend boundaries and redefine possibilities by serving as a symbol of empowerment and inclusivity within both the disability community and the City of Chicago.

The spirit of accomplishment, inclusion, and joy that are part of the marathon experience are what we strive to provide for thousands of our participants in all 77 Chicago neighborhoods. With your help, we are creating a more inclusive Chicago–one mile at a time.
