My Story

Hi!

I am very excited to share that I will be running the Chicago Marathon as part of the Special Olympics Chicago Team!  As many of you know, for the past two years I have been involved with the Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run here in MA and it has made a huge impact on me. I love what the organization stands for, the messages of hope, acceptance and inclusion it promotes and the opportunities it provides for athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities to train and compete in sports.

What originally drew me to get involved with the Special Olympics is my love of sports. The training in a quest to get better, the rush of excitement on game day and the feeling of accomplishment when the event is over.  I also love what participating in sports does for one’s character-it instills courage, teaches resilience and helps one develop a strong sense of self.  I strongly believe everyone deserves the opportunity to participate in organized sports. The Special Olympics has not only created a safe and encouraging place for athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities to train and compete, but also, an opportunity for families and communities to support and cheer them on. Special Olympics Chicago/Special Children's Charities is working to create a more inclusive Chicago... one mile at a time!

Team Special Olympics Chicago is a group of runners dedicated to supporting thousands of Chicagoans with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and I am proud to be a member of this team.

I hope that you consider supporting my efforts, and am so grateful for your support to our life-changing mission.
