Why I run

There are few things in my life that I have been certain of. First, is that I want to serve children and improve their lives in the most difficult of times. Second, I am not an athlete. While both notions have been tested, my commitment to the patients and families that I have the privilege of working with has only become stronger. Kids show me what resiliency truly looks like, and families (in all forms) show me what it means to love and support. 

As a result, I have challenged myself. I have challenged the idea that I can't put one foot in front of the other and trek on. After all, it's what I see children do every day. I am running for the kids who can't, and their families who commit their lives to them in order for them to become remarkable humans that they are. 

I am a pediatric nurse, and I am running for children.
