Team Superstars - Neurosurgery/Neuro-oncology
In early 2019, my wife noticed that our 14 year-old daughter would occasionally get an frightened look on her face. Working through a series of doctors, these episodes were diagnosed as seizures and by mid-Febraury, we were told she had a brain tumor.
By the time she had surgery in late April, the seizures had gotten more severe--she had three grand mal seizures, including one on Easter Sunday and one as she was getting prepped for surgery.
After an 8-hour long surgery, our Neurosurgeon, Dr. Halvorson, and Neuro-oncologist, Dr. Skrypek, had wonderful news for us. They believed they were able to completely remove the tumor and that it was low-grade (not-cancerous) and that Macie would make a full recovery.
Other than a nasty scar, which is mostly hidden by her hair, and an eye that was a bit wonkey at first, she's recovered remarkably well.
We were extremely fortunate and are raising money as a way to express our gratitude for all the wonderful, caring staff at Children's Hospital.
Strain Delay
Like a knucklehead, I ended up straining my calf aa week before I was planning to run. Because Grandma's was already cancelled and there's no point in limping through 26.2 miles, I'm delaying my run, hopefully just for one week, hoping to run it on 6/27 now.
The Official Playlist
Because Grandma's Marathon was cancelled, I'll be running 26.2 miles alone. Without 6,999 of my best friends to keep me company on the run, I'm building a playlist of songs suggested by supporters to listen to while I run.
Please send in your suggestions, thanks!

March Challenge!!!
To celebrate spring (hopefully), I'm running a fund-raising challenge this month. I'm going to try and get 50 donations of $1 (or more). For the first 50 donors, I'm going to donate another $1. If we get to 50 donors for the month, I'm going to donate another $50 to another runner's campaign. Please spread the word!!
COVID-19 Update: When it became obvious that COVI-19 was going to hit the US hard, I backed off on my fund-raising effort and did not push to hit this goal because of the uncertianity that people were faced with. But because of the success we had early, I assumed that we would have hit the 50 donor goal and made a matching donation directly to Children's urgent needs fund at https://www.childrensmn.org/support-childrens/giving-to-childrens/
