What is a Texas Epilepsy Walk?
The Texas Epilepsy Walks are community events that raise awareness and funds to support people living with epilepsy. They provide a chance for families, friends, and supporters to come together and walk in support of the epilepsy community.
How do I sign up?
You can register for a Texas Epilepsy Walk online at EFTX.org or in person on the day of the event.
When and where are the Texas Epilepsy Walks?
The Texas Epilepsy Walks are held in a variety of locations, from large open squares and parks to specialty venues like zoos. Visit EFTX.org for a full list of walk locations and dates.
Is there a fee to participate in the walk?
Yes, each walk has a registration fee that varies by location. This fee covers your entrance to the walk and includes a commemorative t-shirt.
Can my child participate in the walk?
Yes, the walk is a family-friendly event, and participants of all ages are welcome. Be sure to register your children either online or on the day of the event.
What if it rains?
Texas Epilepsy Walks take place rain or shine! In the case of dangerous weather, your local EFTX staff will notify you of any changes or alternate plans.
How is the money used?
For every dollar donated to the Epilepsy Foundation Texas, 95 cents goes directly to programs and services that support people living with epilepsy. This includes life-changing programs like medical clinics, summer camps (like Camp Spike 'n Wave), educational resources, advocacy efforts, and support groups.
Are donations tax-deductible?
Yes, donations made to the Epilepsy Foundation Texas are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. Be sure to keep your donation receipt for tax purposes.
Can I walk as part of a team?
Yes! You can form a team with friends, family, or coworkers, or join an existing team to walk together and make an even greater impact.
What should I wear to the walk?
Comfortable shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, and your event t-shirt if you have one. We also recommend bringing sunscreen, a hat, and a refillable water bottle.
Can I bring my pet?
Policies on pets vary by location, so please check with your local walk site for specific guidelines.
How do I make a donation to support a walker or team?
You can make a donation online at EFTX.org or on the day of the event. You can also share your personal fundraising page with family and friends to help you reach your goal.
What is the Seizure First Aid Training?
It’s a free, 30-minute training session offered during the walk that teaches you how to recognize seizures and respond safely and effectively.
How do I sign up for Seizure First Aid Training?
You can sign up for a session when you register for the walk by checking the box for your preferred time.
Where will the training take place?
The training will be held on-site at Rob Fleming Park. Exact location details will be provided closer to the event.
