My Story

My grandfather is currently battling cancer. This past summer, I finally had the opportunity to return to Japan to see him for the first time in 8 years. He tries to keep it a secret, but his condition is worsening by the day, and it is hard for him to come out with us. He doesn’t like showing signs of struggle or weakness, but I’m old enough to see past his front. While I was there, he asked me what I had planned for this year, and I told him I wanted to join Texas 4000 for Cancer. That is why I want to ride; I am riding for my grandfather, riding for my countless other family members who have battled cancer and have lost, riding for those who can’t, and riding to prove to everyone that anything is possible, no matter the distance.

With that said, I’ve always wanted to do something beyond myself, something to help others grandly, and for once, I believe I can. I can finally help in the battle against cancer. The best part is that I am not alone. I believe that everyone in Texas 4000 for Cancer has decided to be courageous enough to take a leap of faith and be a part of something impactful. See you at the finish line.
