I ride for Texas 4000 to honor the incredible strength and resilience of those who have faced cancer and the uncertainty it brings. My mom, my rock and greatest inspiration, faced a health scare a few years ago with a mass in her pelvic area. Waiting through her biopsy was one of the hardest times. Thankfully, it turned out to be benign, but that experience made me realize how deeply cancer can impact not just patients but their families. Her courage and unwavering support have shaped who I am and fueled my passion for fighting cancer. Without her, I wouldn’t have been able to attend UT, where I discovered an amazing organization like Texas 4000 that lets me channel this passion into something bigger. I ride for my friend Rati, who has courageously battled brain cancer, and for so many other family friends including Mrs. McKinney, who has faced breast cancer with incredible strength. I also ride in honor of my grandmother, a true pillar of strength. She was a source of unwavering support for my grandfather during his battle with brain cancer and stood by my aunt as she survived breast cancer. Her recent passing has deepened my resolve to ride for her, reminding me that cancer doesn’t just affect the individual—it touches the lives of everyone who loves them. Through my experiences at MD Anderson, I’ve also met patients whose bravery has profoundly inspired me to join their fight. I ride for all of them, for many other loved ones, and for every family navigating the uncertainty and fear of cancer, hoping to offer strength, hope, and support through this journey.
