My pain is what ultimately formed my passion, and that passion became my purpose. A few months prior to my senior year of high school, my Mom was diagnosed with stage four metastatic Breast Cancer. Shortly, after being diagnosed she passed away. Growing up my Mom and I were inseparable, she was my best friend, and my everything. After her passing, I was extremely lost in deep grief and sadness. However, after a significant amount of time passed, I began to learn how to live again. Along the way, I felt compelled to help and contribute to this fight against cancer anyway I can. It started with a small t-shirt fundraiser during Breast Cancer Awareness month in which I donated all of the proceeds to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. And, now here I am today about to embark on this incredible opportunity to be part of the Texas 4000 for Cancer program. I chose Texas 4000 for Cancer because I want to be a part of something so much larger than myself, a community of empowering students who support each other, and are all bonded together in this fight against cancer. During this amazing 18 month journey I hope to cultivate lifelong friendships, grow my leadership skills, and change the world one mile at a time. I would love nothing more than if you would join me in this journey in fighting against cancer.
