In 2022, my sister, Faith, was diagnosed with a stage II granusola cell tumor (GCT). GCTs are extremely rare, malignant ovarian tumors that account for just 2–5% of all ovarian cancers. Fortunately, thanks to vigilant testing and early diagnosis, doctors were able to surgically remove her tumor before it metastasized further.
I joined Texas 4000 to share my sister's story and educate others about this life-threatening disease alongside the original mission of Texas 4000: to spread hope, knowledge and charity in the fight against cancer.
Contributions to Texas 4000 for Cancer go directly towards grants for cancer research, ongoing cancer education and awareness efforts in our community, and ultimately the amazing students and staff who keep this organization alive on UT campus.
Texas 4000 is not just a non-profit, it's catalyst for change, a platform for student voices, and a longstanding (20+ year) program determined to make a difference in the lives of those affected by cancer.
