My mom has had cancer twice, skin and thyroid. She was very fortunate that both were caught early and treatable. In April my sister Kiera, age 28, was diagnosed with a pancreatic tumor. We were relieved to find out her tumor is slow growing and not yet malignant. Still, it must be removed carefully by a highly skilled surgeon. Kiera and my parents have visited 3 outstanding cancer centers in Texas and met with incredible surgeons to decice what procedure is right for this type of tumor. While visiting they saw many patients undergoing treatment. Cancer devastates people's lives, ruins their finances, and inflicts so much physical pain. The patients bravely facing cancer treatment were an inspiration to my sister and gave her strength to say, “I can do this too.'
