This will be the 19th year for TEAM LUCAS to walk for epilepsy!
Lucas was definitely an epilepsy warrior and fought with courage and a michevious grin.He never met a stranger and always wanted to make a new friend.He was diagnosed with epilepsy at 5 years old and for struggled with countless seizures (of many kinds), multiple hospital stays, doctors appointments, medications, infusions, and EEGs. Just three years later, Lucas would be taken away from us due to SUDEP (Sudden Unexplained Death in Epilepsy).
Just before Lucas passed away, he was able to attend Camp Spike-N-Wave. He was able to spend an entire week with kids like himself while having the best time! Under the watchful eye of counselors, Epilepsy Foundation staff, neurologist, and nurses, he was able to run, swim, climb, fish, (and run some more) and all the other fun events during a week away from mom. This camp, and others, are provided free of charge! How are they able to to this?? With donations! Your donations also go to help other wonderful programs and services provided by the Epilepsy Foundation including clinic and medication services as well as education and support groups.
