Ivy has had developmental delays, GI issues, failure to thrive, and crying fits since birth. She has a twin sister, Isabel, who is very healthy.

Ivy started physical, occupational, and speech therapies at 6 months old. Ivy still kept missing milestones and suffers from low muscle tone. She also was saying a few words at 6 months, but by 12 months, those were gone. Around 12 months, Ivy lost purposeful use of her hands and no longer grasp anything. She developed tremors in her hands and head. Her movements are jerky and she easily throws objects while trying to hold them. Ivy plays with 1-2 toys and pushes the same buttons over and over with one finger. Ivy also has self abuse behaviors, including biting herself, head hurting, and scratching.

We had every test ran imaginable and were evaluated for autism. Ivy's MECP2 was positive in Jan 2015, so we finally had a name for her issues. Ivy is doing better with eye contact and is finally letting us hold her and show affection to her. She also laughs at her sister. Ivy still cannot eat solids. She cannot walk, talk, pull up, or crawl at 19 months. She sleeps horribly. But Ivy is a pure joy! She laughs loudly. She adores music and is obsessed with Peppa Pig. Ivy taps your mouth when she wants you to keep singing or talking. Her smile can melt our hearts! She is so loved by many people.
