Katherine Strate Smith was born and raised in Morristown, Tenn., and spent many years as a Junior Girl Scout. This experience helped shape her leadership and commitment to service. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Georgia and began her career in communications and marketing consulting, working with some of the world’s largest brands. In 2018, Katherine shifted industries to serve clients in a more personal way, joining Strate Insurance Group, Inc. as a Producer. In 2023, she became President and CEO succeeding her father, Tom Strate, and becoming the 3rd generation of the Strate Family to lead the business. In 2025, Strate Insurance Group merged with Main Street Insurance Group, an independent insurance and risk management advisory agency. Katherine is now a Partner at Main Street Insurance Group and a Business Risk Consultant specializing in business insurance purchasing, risk management, and employee benefits.
Katherine has been married to her husband, Kevin, for nearly nine years and is the proud mom of two daughters, Charlotte (7) and Caroline (5).
