Lucian's Story
Lucian is a Traumatic Brain Injury survivor. In 2002 he suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury that immediately halted his life.
One of the many therapy’s Lucian participated on his road to recovery was horseback riding. His love for horses and riding was immediately evident, and his new life (which now included horses) began to flourish.
After 2 years of weekly riding therapies and riding lessons, Lucian participated in his first horse show. It opened up a whole new dimension of riding and a whole new world.
Lucian’s riding journey may have begun in his native New Jersey, but he quickly set his sights to compete at bigger venues.
Beginning in 2013 Lucian participated and won his first National Championship at The Hampton Classic Horse show (Bridgehampton, New York). The following year he again earned the title of Champion. He quickly moved up to the independent division where he has been
Lucian took his training to the next level. He has continued to practice at his home farm, as well as the past 3 years taking lessons thru Centenary University as well as this past summer traveling to Long Island.
This summer's hard work has paid off and Lucian once again earned himself Reserve Champion at The Hampton Classic, this time in the independent division.
Lucian continues to grow and improve with his riding. His goals include taking more lessons, riding in more shows and also to enter the traditional horse show world. Lucian sees beyond his disability, he doesn't let them hold him back from fulfilling his dreams.
Lucian relies on donations and funding to achieve his riding goals. Lucian rides with pure joy which can be seen in his constant smile no matter the challenges. His easy going, friendly nature and support of other riders is contagious and inspiring.
