First things first! Be sure to let your donors know that you're raising money for a good cause:
The mission of the Pujols Family Foundation is to live and share in a commitment to faith, family and others. The foundation exists to promote awareness, provide hope, and meet tangible needs for children and families who live with Down syndrome in Nashville, St. Louis, Kansas City, and Southern California. On a global level, the Foundation strives to improve the standard of living and quality of life for impoverished children in the Dominican Republic through education, medical relief and tangible goods.
The Pujols Family Foundation was founded in 2005 by three-time MVP; nine-time MLB All-Star; and Roberto Clemente Award recipient Albert Pujols.
Secondly, get the word out!
Especially now with social media, it's easy to get the word out that you are raising money for a good cause and participating in an event you're really excited about: The Tennessee Home Run Derby!
One tried and true way to raise funds is a simple letter (or e-mail) to family and friends asking them to support you. This site allows you to share your personal fundraising page, so you can direct potential donors right to your page. If you ask 20 potential supporters to each consider a $25 donation, and they do, then you have already increased your time in the batter's box, but also earned one of these great Nike backpacks:
Third, have fun with it!
There are many different ways to fundraise. Have a car wash, lemonade stand...or even consider asking a company or organization for a matching gift. Involve your local baseball or softball teams in the cause and all raise money together!
