One Hope United invites you to join us at our annual Thriving Together luncheon on Thursday, June 11.
For 130 years, OHU has served over 10,000 children, youth, and families annually across Illinois and Florida through early childhood education, child and family services, behavioral and mental health resources, and residential programs. This event is raising $250,000 to support youth and families across our programs.
Funds raised at Thriving Together will support programs like our innovative Hope Houses, which provide stable, family-like homes for youth ages 13-17 involved in the child welfare system. Hope Houses are transforming the lives of youth who have faced significant instability in state custody.
Before arriving at a Hope House, these young people experience an average of 19 placement moves, reflecting the challenges of finding stability and support. At Hope House, they find a safe, structured environment where they stay an average of 307 days before successfully transitioning to the next stage of life. Our impact goes beyond housing—30% of the youth earn their driver’s license, and they are five times less likely to run away, and six times less likely to require Baker Act intervention compared to peers in state custody. These outcomes demonstrate the power of consistent care and opportunity in disrupting the foster care-to-prison pipeline.
