Let's be frank, I am the opposite of "sporty." A year ago I was denied life insurance because I was overweight. I tend to avoid physical risks. I can trip over my own two feet walking down a hallway...and while I'm married to a former Navy pilot who frequently took risks for our country, I'm more comfortable on terra firma.
Then last year, we lost a beloved extended family member to cancer. He was only 40. Incredible. A father of two lovely young daughters. He had few treatment options and swiftly he was gone. You likely also know someone taken too soon by cancer.
I truly believe Damon Runyon is a part of that brighter future for people with cancer and those of us who love them.
So I've swapped my heels for hiking boots. I said yes to the Timmerman Traverse to support Damon Runyon cancer researchers who are brilliant, brave, and bold enough to go where others haven’t.
Now I'm trying to make friends with the stair climber (it's not mutual) and training to go extremely out of my comfort zone.
Because we can and must do better for those with cancer (and those who love them). Please join me in this challenge as together as we raise funds for lifesaving research.
