My story
I’ve been working with biotech companies for the better part of my 25 years in corporate communications and on a number of occasions, I have had a first-row seat in observing the journey of early, ground-breaking science as it ultimately becomes a life prolonging treatment for patients. I’ve had family and friends who have survived cancer because of innovation. I'm a believer in challenging the status quo of what’s possible in the lab, in business and now in a non-traditional philanthropic model that will test my physical and mental resilience.
With this trek to Everest Base Camp, I'm hoping it can be my turn to step into the unknown. I have been personally influenced by mountains my whole life. Growing up with the Massachusetts Blue Hills in my backyard meant weekend hikes with my family and I spent summers climbing the high peaks in the Adirondacks. My first visit to the Himalayas in my twenties was not just a trip; it was a life-changing experience that fueled a passion for adventure and discovery. Mountains have long been a symbol of our higher calling, representing both a physical and spiritual ascent. They urge us to rise above our limitations and embrace the challenge of the unknown. I'm ready for this next life-changing adventure. I'll be on the top of the world for a great cause with your help.
Thank you for your support!
With gratitude,
Liza

What a day and what a feeling to reach those heights. I asked in my journal entry that day if I'd ever have the chance to trek in the beautiful Himalayas again. I'm so happy that thirty years later, the answer is YES.
My grandmother GeGe
My grandmother survived two kinds of cancer, open heart surgery and two hip replacements. She was an accomplished painter and equestrian. Her youthful spirit propelled her until 99th year. She is still an inspiration.
