In February 2026, I will be joining the Timmerman Traverse to raise money for the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation. Along with a group of 20+ biotech investors and operators, I will hike the highest mountain in Africa, and reach the peak of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.
Well, I did it! Coming off ~20 months post op from a major knee surgery, I was looking for an exciting and motivating goal. It seemed kismet when I reached out to Luke and learned that the upcoming once-in-a-lifetime trip to Kilimanjaro had an opening for me, and that the day of the descent from Kilimanjaro happens to be my birthday. It also goes without saying that raising these funds to support the next generation of cancer researchers through the DRCRF is happening at a time when it is needed more than ever. In recent months, many of my friends and colleagues have lost some or all of their research funding due to academic affiliations, decreased federal funding, or tough biotech markets. The work that we do in biotech company creation relies on the innovations produced in academia, so raising funds to provide continuity of funding to high priority research projects is incredibly important to me.
