As a scientist-turned-biotech-builder, I spent my time in academia exploring how bacterial pathogens and the immune system shape disease—and how these insights can unlock new therapeutics. I now focus on launching new ventures at Flagship Pioneering, and I see firsthand how bold, early-stage ideas have the potential to reshape the future of human health.
But today, those ideas are at risk. That’s why I’m stepping up—literally and figuratively—to support Damon Runyon’s mission to fund high-risk, high-reward research led by the next generation of cancer innovators.
This climb is more than a physical challenge. It’s a personal commitment to the values that have guided my journey: curiosity, courage, and community.
- It’s for the postdoc with a bold idea and no runway.
- It’s for those pushing the boundaries of cancer research—like the team I’m currently building Flagship Labs 101 with—driven by the belief that science can deliver hope where it’s needed most.
- And most importantly, it’s for the patients still waiting for a breakthrough, including people close to me whose cancer journeys have shaped how I think about urgency, innovation, and impact.
If you’re able, I’d be incredibly grateful for your support—whether that’s a donation, a share, or a note of encouragement. Every bit helps bring us closer to the summit of what science can do.
What your donation supports: Your donation fuels early-career scientists working on bold new ways to understand and treat cancer. Everyone on the Traverse covers their own costs up the mountain—so 100% of what you give goes directly to research.
