Women Lawyers Supporting DWC's Together Housed Campaign
Together we can help end women's homelessness
One in three people experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles are women. The Downtown Women’s Center (DWC) is the only organization in Los Angeles focused exclusively on serving and empowering women experiencing homelessness and formerly homeless women. Help us, Rachel Capoccia and Susan Allison, raise funds for the Downtown Women's Center this month as they strive to end homelessness for women in Los Angeles amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. We each donated $1,000 and hope that you will join us and donate what you can to help us meet our target goal.
Rachel is on the Board of Directors for the DWC and introduced Susan to volunteer opportunities with DWC. Our firm, Jeffer Mangels Butler & Mitchell sponsors two Cooking Clubs each year, with firm attorneys spending a day at DWC cooking and serving lunch for the 100 to 200 women who visit the DWC's day center each day. Every cooking club is a rewarding experience and it reminds us all of how much need there is in our city for services like those provided by DWC.
Through our experiences volunteering at DWC we have seen first hand the commitment and hard work demonstrated by the DWC staff and executives in their fight to meet the needs of a growing population of homeless women in our city. You can rest assured that the money you donate will help countless women facing homelessness in our city.
We know 2020 is a challenging year -- boy do we know it -- and that it may be more difficult to donate than in other years. We understand that everyone is struggling. But know that any amount you can afford will be appreciated and will go to help alleviate the struggles of others less fortunate.
