For others, like me, whose attention span during the past six months has been reduced to a millisecond - the gist is this: We can't have our big, annual fundraising bash this year. Instead, we are hosting an online fundraising campaign through October 16th called Together We Thrive. New Moms holds a special place in my heart. I started as a volunteer at New Moms' social enterprise, Bright Endeavors, eleven years ago. I joined New Moms' staff in 2010 and have had various roles along the way. Over this time I have been fortunate to get to know hundreds of young moms, all of whom desire the very same things you and I do for our loved ones: safe and stable homes, economic success, feelings of being valued and belonging, and positive social connections and relationships.
Just as different types of contractors take on different aspects of building a house, different types of people - young moms and their family members, my colleagues and other professionals, employers, policymakers, taxpayers and donors - are necessary to construct the foundations for family well-being. When we all support well-being of young families, we make sure that everyone can reach their full potential and contribute to our communities.
Covid-19 has affected every aspect of our work at New Moms. And while our operational costs have increased (ie. PPE, technology, emergency cash for moms, diapers -- so many diapers!) our annual Fall fundraising Gala has been cancelled out of respect for public health. In its place, our online Together We Thrive campaign makes it possible for you to donate in solidarity and community with young moms - to send a message that they matter. Please consider making a donation now and help me exceed my fundraising goal of $1,000!
