Being a mom regardless if you have support or resources or not. It's super hard! I joined the New Moms board over 4 years ago for many reasons. 1. My mom was a teen single mom. If only she had the some of the services provided by New Moms for young moms (16-24). Thankfully she did what she had to do and we had what we needed. 2. As a Black woman, I understand the struggles of the culture and Black women go through so much to make it. Imagine raising a young child or children and battling systemic racism as you try overcome struggles. It's mentally draining. To name a few: wage gap, concrete ceiling, limited educational opportunities, etc. A majority of the women served by New Moms are Black and Brown. The data is real on who needs the support. Basically a hand up but not a hand out. 

That's why we/I need your support. There are many ways you can support New Moms. A financial donation is requested. COVID-19 has exposed so many inequities and our moms have even greater needs than the average person. Please note there are many other ways to get involved to volunteer and to donate at our Chicago (Austin) or Oak Park office.

• $55 can provide one night of housing for a young mom and her child.
• $75 could help us provide one month of emergency services to one family- food, diapers, formula, cleaning supplies, and transit.
• $187.25 can provide one month's rent to our families who are struggling with job loss due to COVID-19.
• $450 A gift of $450 could fund a baby shower for the participants in our prenatal support group for soon-to-be moms.
