I joined the New Moms Board when New Moms acquired the Parenthesis Family Center in 2016. Prior to that, I served on the Parenthesis Board.
During my early career as a social worker, I worked with pregnant and parenting teens and became acutely aware of how difficult parenting can be without a support system. Once I had my own children, these challenges were magnified and I had the luxury and lots of support.
New Moms is important to me for many reasons, but the challenges I observed while working with young parents as well as those I experienced while having young children of my own, inspired me to use my social work background to get involved and help make that journey easier for others. New Moms supports young mothers by introducing the tools they need to build strong foundations for their families. I especially like the two+ generation approach, supporting both parent and child, creating strong families and strong communities.
New Moms' mission to provide holistic support to families through job training, home visiting, and family support, as well as housing, is inspiring. Parenting is hard. Everyone needs support. Please join me in supporting New Moms!
