This year’s rain was not nearly enough and the drought is far from over. Prolonged dryness is contributing to an increased risk of tree death, threatening all of the tree planting progress we’ve made over the past 48 years. We need trees to survive. And now, especially during a mega-drought, they need us.
A gift to the Drought Defense Match will empower people of all ages across our region to water and care for drought-stressed trees. Healthy trees are powerful tools in the fight against environmental threats. It’s vital that we water our trees, especially newly planted trees, to keep them healthy and protect us from pollution and rising temperatures.
Your gift will also strengthen our collaboration with government agencies to develop region-wide solutions, with an ultimate goal of creating a thriving healthy canopy of shade-providing trees throughout the city and surrounding region.
The good news is TreePeople has solutions. We have the expertise and community-organizing skills to protect and grow our tree canopy during this critical time.
Our dedicated Board of Directors has pledged $100,000 of matching funds if we can raise $100,000 from generous TreePeople members. Please make a gift of any amount and it will be doubled by our Board for $200,000 to fight drought and support all of TreePeople's work. The deadline is August 31 September 7!
