Crash Story: On July 9, 2020, Elise Acosta suffered an unimaginable tragedy when all four of her children—Anesa Noelle Acosta (15), Quintin Michael McGowan (13), Brekkin Riley Bruce (8), and Trentin Beau Bruce (6)—were killed in a catastrophic truck crash.
The children were traveling with their father, Aaron Bruce, from Kansas City, MO, to Columbus, OH, when slowed construction traffic led to tragedy. A semi-truck, driven by an impaired driver with methamphetamine and fentanyl in his system, failed to slow down and slammed into their vehicle. The collision pushed their car into another semi and pinned it against tie rods and wires, causing it to burst into flames. While Aaron was rescued with severe injuries, the children could not be saved. The driver responsible was sentenced to 45 years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple charges.

Elise continues to channel her grief into action, ensuring her children’s memories inspire meaningful change.
Why Supporting TSC Matters: “I refuse to let my children’s lives be defined by their loss. Through the Truck Safety Coalition, I can fight for safer roads and honor their legacies. Every step we take toward change is a step toward preventing another family from experiencing this pain.” - Elise Acosta
