Prairie Springs on Park
We are creating a premiere eco-friendly event destination by repurposing a historic Cream City brick building across the Oak Leaf Trail from our Riverside Park location. Prairie Springs on Park will host up to 300 guests, be landscaped with native plantings, and feature windows with bird-safe glass to deter collisions. Located adjacent to beautiful park land and with an industrial feel, the revenue generated will allow the UEC to sustain mission-based environmental education and outdoor recreation programs.
Community Outdoor Gathering Space
This natural gathering space for community and school visits will feature picnic tables, open green space, and native plantings. The project turns more than 2 acres of formerly unusable industrial land into a natural green space, offering a new entrance into Riverside Park.
Facilities and Land Stewardship Workspace
Located adjacent to the current Riverside Park building parking lot, the south side area provides space to address land stewardship and facility needs while increasing our opportunity to engage local adults and young adults in nature-based learning and the important ecological restoration in our public spaces.
Modified Space in Current Riverside Park Building
Reconfiguring the facility will create more classroom space for thousands of children, preschool through high school, to participate in environmental education.
