Shelley Clemons as Queen Charlotte
I am participating as a costume contestant to help bring hope and healing to individuals impacted by human trafficking. As a Knoxville police officer for nearly 30 years who has worked investigations of human trafficking cases and undercover stings with the FBI, you never know how close to home a victim of human trafficking can be in your family. At the vulnerable age of 15, a dear friend's daughter, who is like a niece to me, frequently ran away from home and fell victim to human trafficking, in which she was abused and exploited by someone whom she trusted and believed was her romantic partner. Now, at the age of 22, she still struggles to leave this traumatic lifestyle.
Because of survivors like her, I am raising funds to support CCAHT's efforts for public awareness, educational training, detecting red flags and indicators, outreach efforts, and providing support for survivors to rebuild their lives.
I've been employed with the Knoxville Police Department since 1994. My career in law enforcement has evolved over the years and now I currently serve as a Community Partnership Officer of the East District in Knoxville, TN. I help facilitate community engagement opportunities, establish community partnerships, oversee public awareness and educational efforts regarding criminal activity and crime prevention measures, and solve the unique problems that impact the residents and neighborhoods within the east district.
I look forward to your vote and hope to see you on October 27!
