Why I am Fundraising
For me, this is a personal cause. After losing my grandfather, Aubrey King, in 2022 to Parkinson's Disease, we started looking through old documents and learned a lot about his 35 year career as an Air Traffic Controller for the Air National Guard - where he retired from his post at McEntire Joint National Guard Base as Chief Master Sergeant and Tower Chief.
He was a titan of a man who left this earth in his way, on his terms, and in his own time – of course, on his 81st birthday no less. His laughter was infectious, his handshake was bone crushing, and his wisdom was endless. He taught me so many things, many of which are foundational to who I am as a person, and I’m proud to be able to carry out his legacy of service through my work at The Mission Continues.
