I have been a part of this walk since 2013, months after I lost my nephew, Roy A. Lopez. I was referred for the grief support group and despite being hesitant at first about attending, I am glad I went. The meetings, they were a big help. I have been able to share in my grief, the loss experience and how it has impacted my family. Losing Roy was extremely difficult and life changing. Roy will forever be 21 years young. There are days I still wonder why I didn't see it or how I could not know and if I knew then what I know now. I feel blessed to have been a part of his short life and having had the chance to see him grow up and witness how kind, loving and caring he was. How humble he remained and the pranks he would pull on us to give us the gentle nudge not take life so serious and to have fun. His memory lives on and will never be forgotten. I do this walk to help bring awareness and stop the stigma. I hope to spare others the same grief I've experienced and do this walk to help an organization that provides the support others need to break the cycle, break the promise to stay quiet, to bring awareness and hope. I hope I can count on your support. Help me, help them, help others.
