A Note From the Visualizing Palestine Team

VP’s theory of change is centered on shifting the narrative on Palestine.

We believe that dominant narratives serve to obscure, justify, and perpetuate oppressive power structures in society. To shift our reality, we have to pay attention to the role dominant narratives play in sustaining a harmful status quo, and preventing collective imagination of a just and liberated future for all. This is where Visualizing Palestine comes in. Our work does not happen in isolation, but is interconnected with community organizing, political education, and collective action.

Narrative shifts often happen fastest in times of crisis, and this year has shown us how very true that is as we move through pain and possibilities. The apartheid system Israel has nurtured for decades has ushered in a government so extreme that more people are seeing it for what it is. In this moment, the messages of our movement are being heard in ways that were not possible even a few years ago.

“It is in collectivities that we find reservoirs of hope and optimism.” –Angela Davis

Thank you for being part of Visualizing Palestine’s “reservoirs of hope” at this critical time.
