I'm raising funds because animals need lawyers!

I've been honoured to lead Animal Justice for the past four years. In that time we've grown from a small team of mostly volunteers, to a national organization making sure animals get the legal representation they so desperately need. We're in the halls of Parliament, the Supreme Court of Canada, and on national news broadcasts. We raise the profile of animal issues and are changing conversation about what we, as a society, owe to animals.

Animal Justice has momentum and is winning victories for animals, but it's not enough. We're up against some of the wealthiest companies in the world, and every day, I find myself wishing that we could do more, and help save even more animals from the industries that abuse and silence them. 

That's why I'll be going silent on November 9, to raise funds in support of the work we do at Animal Justice. I talk a LOT, so this won't be easy! (On last year's day of silence, my city councillor was knocking on my door when I got home from work, and in my excitement to get him on board to support stronger municipal animal laws and policies, I forgot about the vow of silence for 10 minutes. I think the animals would forgive me, but this year, I promise to make it the whole day!)
