Our daughter, Fiona, was born with Neurofibromatosis Type 1. She has had too many doctor's appointments, MRI's, and surgeries to count in her young 8 years. She has physical challenges due to her scoliosis and tibial dysplasia. In addition to all of this, Fiona had quite a challenging year. She was part of a clinical trial and went through a year of chemotherapy treatment at Dana Farber to try to shrink a large plexiform neurofibroma growth in her chest. While the treatment shrunk the growth a little, it was not enough to stay in the trial. We will probably try a new form of medication in coming months. Fiona is currently enjoying a break from the medication, as it was really difficult to be on. We walk to raise money for her and all others suffering from this disease. We hope to raise money in order to promote more research and hopefully someday find a cure!
