“I am walking for the Virginia Thurston Healing Garden for the eighth time. I have experienced eight years of empathic support, encouragement and have made many wonderful friendships. I was diagnosed with DCIS breast cancer in December of 2016. After surgery and radiation, I was lost. I needed a community like the Healing Garden where we all understand what we are each going through and feeling, regardless of our type of cancer. The Healing Garden has given me the strength and courage to face anything. This amazing place calms the chaos of cancer and brings inner peace. The Healing Garden definitely saved me and continues to enrich and empower me each day. I still attend the post-treatment group and participate when I can in expressive arts, meditation, body work and occasionally try something new out of my comfort zone.
