Thank you for visiting my page.  It's that tme of the year again for the annual Wak Ahead for a Brain Tumor Cure and once again, I'll be walking with Marla's Mob.

So far Marla has exceeded all prognosis expectations.  She has long surpassed the milestones in the medical jouranls I read when we were deciding on treatment courses.  Ironically, as a statistician she would rather be calculating statistics than be a living one.  We feel very fortunate and blessed that she is an extreme outlier.  

This year is a huge milestone for Marla, her 15 year post treatment anniversary will be January 2020.  At the end of October she will have her annual MRI and if her scans are clean, she will be released from annual follow-up.  We are truly thankful for this, and yet when you look at what she has been through, the price she has paid to still be here and the grim statistics for most less fortunate patients one has to ask if we can do better.  

Immunotherapy, viral therapies, engineered T-cells, sRNA and proton therapy were not available for gliomas in the early 2000's.  There are several promising therapies in trials now and we are proud that UC and local biotechs are helping in the fight.  We want  new cures that eradicate the cancer, but not the patient's quality of life.  We don't want anyone to go what we went through, ever.

We would love to have you join the mob, even if this is your first year.  It's a big year for Marla.  Let's make this the biggest mob ever!
