It has been nearly 4 years since My husband, Dr. Michael Wood, died of Glioblastoma at the age of 63. I am now two years older than he was when he died and it makes me feel sad to know how much of life he has missed and how much his friends and family have missed of his wonderful opstimistic presence! As the years go by, I feel frustrated that ther still is no significant cure on the horizon and the survival rates have not changed much in the past 6 years since he was diagnosed. Although I am frustrated and angry, I still have the fortitude and hope that if we continue to donate to worthy institutions, such as UC Brain Tumor Center, there may someday be a significant breakthrough in both early diagosis and effective long term treatment. All of you who were so lucky to know Michael as a friend, patient, family member please consider donating again this year to the Brain Tumor Center Walk Ahead Event. Let's not become complacent and let the memory of the galliant example he made fade with time.
Unfortunately, this year I am unable to participate due to a personal family conflict, but the event has the option of being a virtual participant. That is how I am signing up. I encourage all of you to consider that option as well if you are unable to join in person.
