Walk & Wag and Run

This is my second year fundraising for Walk and Wag and Run. I began volunteering at HSHV in 2022 but have been a long time supporter of the shelter. Back in 2010 my husband and I adopted a beautiful 3-legged pitbull and named her Millie. While we had hoped to be celebrating her 15th birthday this year, we made the incredibly difficult and unexpected decision to say goodbye to her on 3/4/2024. Millie had developed thyroid cancer which metastasized to her lungs.

According to her records, she had her leg amputated when she was around 3 or 4 months old. This did not slow her down one bit though! She ran faster and jumped higher than her first brother, Ajax, and she continued to surprise us with her athleticism throughout her entire life. Even though she could not swim, she loved the water more than anything. It was her happy place. She had a very long and happy life and we are so grateful that we found her. She will be missed every single day.
