Dear Friends and Loved Ones,
I am a volunteer and board member of Emotions Matter Inc. I volunteer because of my own lived experience of loving and supporting others with Emotion Dysregulation/borderline personality disorder, and my own lived experiences with mental health challenges, and as a brown, adopted latina with passion for mental wellbeing! The unique experience of emotion dysregulation is one that is near and dear to my heart.
I admire the work we do at Emotions Matter - to raise awareness and educate others on BPD, and provide peer services for those looking to connect and find community with others. Because every human has emotions & we can all have challenges with emotion dysregulation at different times (during any given day), I have found a lot of our educational materials to be helpful for myself, and in my closest personal relationships.
Today, I am proud to report that since its inception, Emotions Matter has helped thousands of people with BPD to move forward on their recovery journey. We provide free BPD online peer support groups, stigma-free educational workshops and materials, and opportunities to get involved in advocacy to promote recovery. We believe that people with BPD are the best agents for changing the stigma associated with BPD.
Due to the generosity of our sponsors and donors, all of our services are offered at no cost to the community, who is often underserved and neglected by the mental health system. We help people struggling with severe symtpoms like suicidality feel seen, heard, and empowered to access care. We are actively working to broaden our diversity, belonging, equity, and cultural responsiveness efforts and our BPD supports, especially among communities that have historically been marginalized - this is some of the work I am most proud to continue!!
Will you support Emotions Matter with a donation to my Walk for BPD Team?
The Walk for BPD is our largest fundraising event for BPD Awareness Month in May. Your gift will help Emotions Matter continue to do this very important work to help people with BPD survive, thrive and achieve a meaningful recovery. Thank you so much!
Please feel free to reach out to me to ask any questions about Emotions Matter, or to even walk with the group at Hudson River Park in NYC on June 4th! I can't be there in person on June 4, but will be walking from a distance!!
A hug,
Paula
