I've experienced the symptoms of Borderline Personality Disorder since I was young. Although, I didn't have a name for my mental health challenges until my freshman year of college, where I was officially diagnosed with the BPD. After my diagnosis, I wasn't prepared for the sudden shift in who I was and who people now saw me as. Carrying a BPD label meant that I would be treated differently by doctors, friends, and even strangers. This stigma is what led me to become an avid advocate for people with BPD. By raising funds for Emotions Matter, hopefully we can work together to educate and advocate for the BPD community so that they can be provided with the necessary and life-saving resources that they need in the future.
