There are few places where individuals with developmental disabilities can spend an entire week joyfully focusing on their abilities. For almost 90 years, Mt. Hood Kiwanis Camp has offered one of the largest programs in the U.S. for 600 campers ages 5 and up at our fully accessible 22-acre campsite in the Mt. Hood National Forest. We help EMPOWER youth and adults with cognitive, developmental and physical disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, Traumatic Brain Injury, Cerebral Palsy, and more through year-round recreational programming. 

I started at MHKC back in 2017 as a counselor, came back the next summer as staff, and I’ve been up on the mountain every summer since. I usually spend at least a month at camp, and this year I had the amazing honor of being the Assistanr Programs Director. I got to experience the whole season from start to finish, which ment that I got to meet every single camper, counselor, and staff member. I’ve met some of my best friends here, and working with this community has over the years has changed my life. I love MHKC’s mission and the kind of connections you get to make with campers, counselors, and staff. I want to see MHKC keep going strong for years to come, so let’s raise some money to keep the magic alive (and maybe get some new cool stuff too)!
