In January of 2017, I went to my local urgent care due to persistent chest pain and difficulty taking a deep breath. To my surprise, I was sent to an imaging center where I had a cat scan done. I later was diagnosed with bilateral pulmonary emboli and rushed to Stony Brook hospital. I spent 3 days there being treated by some of the kindest and well trained doctors I could have asked for. I struggled most of this past year with constant anxiety of what could happen to me but I am lucky to be surrounded by amazing family and supportive friends who have been there for me and always remind me how great life really is.
