She lost her life to epilepsy and I want to do everything I can to make sure other families do not suffer the same fate. We need to raise awareness, fund research, and encourage discussion about all facets of epilepsy. Doctors need to be honest and direct about the dangers inherent to epilepsy; those affected and any caregivers need to be informed of preventative devices and support systems available which may help save a life. 1 in 26 people are diagnosed with epilepsy and the funding, awareness and support is completely inadequate in comparison to other medical diagnoses.
