After 4 years of working for The Woods Project, I am about to venture out on my 5th summer program to Yosemite National Park and could not be more excited! Each summer I have participated in has been a life changing experience, not only for me, but more importantly, the Houston High School students I work with.
On our trips, we have had students see and feel the ocean for the first time, fly on a plane, hike in solitude, learn how to swim in a mountain lake and expand their horizons outside of their neighborhood. Think back to the first time you did all the above and you saw a night sky full of stars, a mountain, an animal in the wilderness and remember how awe inspiring your exposure to these new experience can be.
With your help Houston students will get the chance to experience many firsts in our program and be able to expand their world view outside of Houston to help them achieve success in school and life. The Woods Project would not be where it is with out the support of donors, volunteers, partner organizations and anything we receive is greatly appreciated.
I love telling people about what I do and the students I work with- they truly are inspiring, so please ask as many questions about how to give back and get involved!
