How exciting it was to learn that the Woods Project starts is starting its annual walk right at my front door -- at Ripley House Neighborhood Center!
I first heard of the project from many of my friends and former colleagues from HISD's Outdoor Education Center (OEC) in Trinity, TX. They had volunteered to lead trips or organize gear to promote youth access to the outdoors. They foster stewardship of natural resources through experiential education. And there's that added boost to nourish a well-rounded healthy lifestyle.
Join me as I walk alongside two of my favorite teachers from the OEC -- Bubba Brownley and Amy Blonn. Hopefully some of my local buddies and my clinic team will join me too, hence the team name, Team Outdoor Health!

Support The Woods Project with Team Outdoor Health
This Saturday morning I'll be walking with some friends and coworkers -- some new, some that go back more than 10 years-- to support backpacking and camping trips for Houston high school students. Students are selected by their high school teachers to participate -- based on need, initiative, or inspiration -- and they get to travel both near and far to explore the natural world.
