Whitney’s Birthday Wish is a special Mental Health Awareness Month event hosted by Whitney/Strong on May 12 at Ten20 Brewery. The evening will include QPR and Strength in Community: Trusted Adult, two trainings designed to help people recognize warning signs of suicide, start caring conversations, and become safer, more supportive people in the lives of others.
Following the trainings, guests are invited to stay for a silent disco and time to connect with others in the community.
The event is open to the community with a suggested donation of $60. This donation amount will send one teen through a 7-part youth mental wellness series, Strength In Community. If you cannot attend in person, you can still help make Whitney’s birthday wish come true by giving in support of this work.
Callers to the 988 Lifeline can expect to be connected to trained crisis counselors located at call centers closest to their location. The counselor will say ‘hello,' introduce themselves, and ask if the caller is safe. Once safety is confirmed, the crisis counselor will listen to the caller’s concerns and provide support. Callers are not required to provide their name nor location upon calling. Calls to 9-8-8 do not immediately dispatch emergency services to the location of the caller.
