I grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina and have lived in Charlotte since my early 20’s. I believe passionately in healthcare for all and am in real estate with Atrium Health.
Inspired by the amazing Woodson Bradley to share my own breast cancer journey and help raise funds supporting Wiggin Out 2025 sponsored by Carolina Breast Friends.
Many friends know, some may not, I was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer in June of last summer. I had an initial surgery in August that did not completely remove the cancer so in October I had double mastectomy and complete reconstructive surgery that was successful in removing all of it. I was incredibly lucky in many ways; early detection, a non-aggressive form of cancer as well as incredible doctors and very loving family and friends to support me in an unexpected and very scary time in my life.
Today I continue to heal and move on but am reminded many are not so lucky. When some women get their cancer diagnosis, they are much more advanced in their disease and have to endure so much more physically and emotionally. Many do not have resources and strong support systems and this can make an incredibly scary and painful time, much more so.
I don’t consider myself a shy person however to share an intimate, private part of my life that is still very raw, real and new to me, feels somewhat uncomfortable but I feel compelled to honor those who still fight, who still need assistance on so many levels and who need those who can, to fight for them.
I know there are many places and people who need extra resources so I thank anyone who is able and may feel compelled to donate to this cause that is now very near and dear to me. Every dollar makes a difference.
To health and healing for all, onward and upward! ?

I met Woodson several years ago and have been in awe of what a powerhouse she is in our local Charlotte community and now in the NC State Senate!
