I am a breast surgical oncologist at Atrium Health Levine Cancer Institute, where I have the absolute privilege of caring for women diagnosed with breast cancer every single day. Originally from a small farm town outside Greenville, North Carolina, my training has taken me from Raleigh to Washington, DC, to Chapel Hill, to Rhode Island, and, thankfully, back home to Charlotte.

In addition to caring for patients, I serve as the Associate Program Director of our Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship, help train future breast surgeons, work on national committees with the Society of Surgical Oncology, and conduct research focused on breast cancer.

Outside of the hospital, you’ll find me hiking and camping with my other half and our pup, spending time with my gym family at ISI, traveling, trying new restaurants, playing piano, and still hanging out with the coolest mom in the world.
 

I have the absolute privilege of spending my days walking alongside women at one of the scariest moments of their lives.

As a surgeon, I am often the first provider a patient sees after hearing the words, “You have breast cancer.” I see women of all ages, and from all walks of life, forced into a battle they never asked for. I also get to witness their strength, resilience, courage, and triumph as they move through treatment and beyond.

Carolina Breast Friends has been an indescribable resource for so many of my patients. I have seen firsthand how The Pink House becomes a safety net — a place of warmth, understanding, and community during a time that can feel isolating and overwhelming. I’ve watched patients receive support there and later return to volunteer, completing a powerful circle of care.

We are incredibly fortunate to have Carolina Breast Friends in our community,  and I am honored to now support them as a Big Wig.

I am participating as a Big Wig in honor of all of my patients — past, present, and future — who are, who have, and who will beat breast cancer.

Their strength inspires me every single day.
 

Being a Big Wig is a HUGE honor.

Every appointment, every hug, every tear, every laugh, every victory in the clinic or operating room reminds me why I do this work. Being able to surgically remove cancer is one of the greatest honors of my life, but supporting patients extends far beyond surgery.

This campaign allows me to stand beside my patients in another way — by helping raise funds to ensure Carolina Breast Friends can continue offering life-changing support, community, and resources to every woman who walks through their doors.

If my superpower is surgery, compassion, and showing up, this is another way I get to use it for good.
